Launch of Project Carina: A New Cross-Border Payment Solution Leveraging Blockchain Technology.
'Project Carina' has been launched to enhance cross-border payments through blockchain technology, combining Q-money (Thai Baht e-Money) and JPM Coin for greater transaction efficiency between Thailand and the US. Q-money operates on the Quarix blockchain, managed by Orbix Technology and Innovation Co., Ltd., and is currently within the regulatory sandbox of the Bank of Thailand. JPM Coin facilitates transactions with USD deposit accounts on a private, permissioned blockchain ledger. The pilot phase of cross-border transactions will commence in May 2024, allowing funds in Thai Baht using Q-money to be seamlessly transferred to US Dollar accounts at J.P. Morgan. The project is also in the process of seeking regulatory approval to offer the service under the Bank of Thailand's framework.March 29, 2024
